Adding an External Link (URL)
It's easy to add a hyperlink (external link) to direct your students to Web sites pertinent to the course.
Step 1: Access the Control Panel by clicking on the Control Panel link and choose the Content Area that you would like to add the URL in.
Step 2: Click on the Add External Link button.
Step 3: Type what you want to be displayed for the link in the Name field. Type in the internet address of your site in the URL text box. After you have typed the URL address, you may add text to describe your item. This text will be shown directly underneath your URL.
>> Note: Be sure to include the http:// in the URL field (for example: www.blackboard.com and blackboard .com are insufficient URLs).
Step 4: After you have named your item, you may add text to describe your item. This text will be shown directly underneath your item. You may click Preview to look at your description of your item.
Step 5: If you wish to attach a file to your URL, click on the
button. Otherwise, skip to step 7.
Step 6: Locate the file on your computer that you wish to upload, and click Open. In the Name of Link to File text field, type in the name you would like to give it on Blackboard. Then, choose a Special Action to perform.
Create a link to this file to attach the file to your Content Area. A link is automatically inserted below the title to access the file.
Display media file within the page to embed certain kinds of media within the page itself instead of creating a link. However, it must be an extension accepted by Blackboard.
Unpackage this file: This is used if the file you are uploading is a .zip or other archived/compressed file.
Step 7: Set the options you want for your URL.
Step 8: Click on the
button to add your URL. You will receive a conformation receipt. Click the
button to close it.
