Creating a new Thread in a Forum

Threads are the next lower level of hierarchy in a discussion board below the forum. A forum can have multiple threads. Threads grow as users reply to the initial, and subsequent, posts.

To add a thread:

Step 1: Click on the name of the forum to which you would like to add a thread.

Step 2: Click Add Thread in the action bar. The Add Thread page will appear.

Step 3: Enter a subject and your message .

Step 4: You can attach files to the post by clicking the Attach a file link, then clicking the Browse button next to the Attach Local File box. Only one file can be added using the Attachment function below the text box.

When using the attach button in the Visual Text Box Editor, multiple files may be added.

Step 5: When your message is completed, click Save to store a draft of the post or click Submit to create the thread.

Modifying and Submitting a Saved Draft

Step 1: Enter the forum in which the draft was saved. Drafts are considered unpublished and are invisible to other users in the course. In order to modify and ultimately submit the draft, change the Display settings from Published threads to Show All, then click Go.

Step 2: Click on the thread title to view your draft.

Step 3: Click Modify to revise and submit your draft.

Step 4: Once any necessary revisions are completed, hit the button to publish the thread, making it visible for other users.
