Archiving a Course

This helpguide is intended to walk instructor users through the process of archiving a course.

Step 1 : Enter the Control Panel within the course to be archived.

Step 2 : Once inside the Control Panel, select Archive Course under the Course Options heading.

Step 3 : This loads the Export/Archive Manager page. Click the Archive button to initiate the archival process.

Step 4 : It is recommended to select Yes when prompted to "Include copies of Content Collection items linked to in the course." This will ensure that course items linked from the Content Collection are easily imported with the archive in the future.

Once the archive preferences are set, click the Submit button. The archival process can take several minutes to complete. An email notification will be sent upon completion.

Step 5 : Once the completion notification is received, re-enter the Export/Archive Manager area. The archived course file should now be listed, along with a creation time stamp for identification and logs for error details, if applicable.

Step 6 : It is recommended that course archive files be backed up to multiple locations, such as to your computer hard drive, a thumb drive, a writeable CD or DVD, or even your university Homedrive. Redundancy prevents an archived course being lost due to a scratched disc or failed hard drive. To save the course archive, click on the file name and choose Save.
