Community Impact Fund focused on Water Crisis

In response to requests to support UM-Flint faculty, staff, and students’ efforts to address the Flint water crisis, a new Community Impact Fund has been established.

Jumpstart 9th Annual Entrepreneur Conference

The UM-Flint Innovation Incubator participates in this conference. Breakout sessions include: Finding and keeping talent; Branding for beginners; Inventors: Idea to market; Technology essentials; and Meet the lender. Keynote speaker Dan Crannie, owner of Signs by Crannie, will share his success story of how he turned a one-man sign shop into one of the largest sign companies in mid-Michigan.

Mott Grant Advances UM-Flint GIS Center’s Data Mapping Mission

The University of Michigan-Flint is leading a community-wide online project in which researchers and the public will be able to access a wide variety of data from numerous sources and customize maps.

The project received a $100,000 grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

University Outreach and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Center will spearhead the initiative, which includes collaborating with an advisory committee of several different community partners.

University of Michigan-Flint faculty scholars look to enhance community engagement in Flint

Boyer Faculty Scholars help further the Boyer program's goal to deepen campus-wide discourse, practice, and recognition of the scholarship of engagement at the university. With their experiences in the Boyer Program, they hope to make contributions to the greater Flint community as well.

Our Home Transitional attempts to raise $50,000 to house homeless vets

Online fundraising is under way in an effort to raise $50,000 for the local nonprofit organization, Our Home Transitional, in order to purchase a house that will provide transitional housing and services to homeless, single female veterans.

Our Home Transitional is a student-run business housed in UM-Flint's Innovation Incubator. The Incubator is part of the Office of University Outreach, which is part of the UM-Flint Provost's Office.
