The Fall 2015 Common Read is focused on Sister Helen Prejean's Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the U.S. Her book is widely heralded as a profound reflection on capital punishment. Available in paperback and as an audio book, it has also been the basis for a film and an opera. Sister Helen Prejean will visit campus October 8. The Political Science Department will sponsor a Constitution Day event, September 17, exploring the relationship of the death penalty to the Constitution and Supreme Court jurisprudence.
