Dorothea E. Wyatt Award
(Staff in even-numbered years, faculty in odd-numbered years)
A member of the founding faculty of the Flint campus, Dr. Dorothea Wyatt served as Chair of the Department of History, Secretary to the Faculty, and Counselor to Women. Prior to retirement in 1975, she was involved in numerous organizations within the Flint community. This award, which carries a stipend of $2,000, was established in her honor. The award need not be given every year. In even-numbered years, staff members are eligible to receive this award, and in odd-numbered years faculty members are eligible.
In odd-numbered years, faculty members who have been with the University for a minimum of three years are eligible for nomination. In even-numbered years, staff members who have been with the University for a minimum of three years are eligible for nomination. Candidates may be of any gender and should possess some or all of the following qualifications:
- Leadership role in promoting equity and opportunities for women to participate more fully in the campus community.
Involvement in the creation or implementation of programs that, though open to all, would better the status of women on campus or in the community.
In odd-numbered years, a faculty member would be excluded from consideration for this award for any of the following reasons:
They hold a continuing administrative or non-teaching appointment of more than one third.
They hold an administrative appointment above the level of department chair.
They are the current David M. French Professor.
They are a current member of the SASE.
They have received this award within the past five years.
Nominations may be made by faculty, staff, or students. In odd-numbered years the name of nominee and the name of the award for which the person is being nominated should be emailed to email@example.com. Supporting documents should be submitted to the chair of the Scholarships, Awards and Special Events Committee, c/o Provost’s Office, 229 University Pavilion or via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline in these years is the same as for the other faculty awards.
In even-numbered years the Name of nominee and the name of the award for which the person is being nominated is due no later than January 18, 2018. This information should be emailed to email@example.com. The deadline for supporting documents is March 8, 2018. Supporting documents should be submitted to the Director of the Women’s Educational Center, c/o Provost’s Office, 229 University Pavilion or via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
