Admissions Update

The Admissions and Recruitment Committee has had a flurry of activity over the last several months as we came to the decision point of another busy year.  In the first week of February we admitted 60 students into the Class of 2015 that will begin class this upcoming fall.  We also established the highly qualified alternate list.

Of 400 applications, we had over 200 applications that met our rigorous standards.  An important part of the application process is the recommendation that you write.  Thank you for taking the time to give us your evaluation of these potential future professionals!   As graduates of this program you are uniquely qualified to encourage potential PT students to consider UM-Flint as the school of choice for physical therapy.  Please encourage any volunteers or students that you come into contact with to schedule a face to face visit with us.

Besides admitting next year’s cohort, we are always looking to recruit for the future.       We are currently in the process of negotiating articulation agreements with Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan State University, and Albion College for guaranteed  admission to the UM-Flint DPT program.  We are excited for these current collaborations and future collaborations  that we will be making with other universities and colleges.

We are hosting an Applicant Information Luncheon on June 15, 2012 for students who will be starting their applications in July, 2012 for admission in Fall 2013.  Any prospective student may contact Lorrie Jorgenson at ljorgens@umflint.edu  to set up an   individual advising appointment or to RSVP for the Applicant Information Session in June.

Thanks to our alumni for all you do to promote our program at UM-Flint.  We consistently hear about you when our applicants visit us and we ask them why they chose UM-Flint.

Feel free to contact us if you have any specific questions or comments regarding admissions and recruitment.
