Research Spotlight - Dr. Lixing Han
Presenter: Dr. Linxing Han, Associate Professor of Mathematics
Title of Presentation: Nonnegative Matrix Factorization: Algorithms, Applications, and Extensions
Brief Summary: How does the brain recognize faces, holistically or by parts? This is a fundamental question in neuroscience. It turns out, however, that a novel yet simple mathematical model, Nonnegative Matrix Factorization, can help answer this question. In this talk, Dr. Han discusses algorithms, applications, and extensions for Nonnegative Matrix Factorization.
