How did you get involved in research?
Dr. Heinze has been a great asset in my getting involved. She let me in on the research from the get go and helped mentor me greatly.

How has participating in research impacted your education?
I know so much more than if I were to just limit myself to my classes. Doing research gives me the opportunity to use my knowledge hands on.

What has been the most satisfying aspect of your research experience?

When we have the data. It's with this data that we can actually infer meaning and get a plan to help this population. Without knowing what areas need help we'd have nothing.

What are your future plans? How has participating in research helped you in preparing for those future plans?

I plan on attending law school after I finish my undergrad. Doing research has made me a competitive applicant and given me experience doing a lot of thing most people do not get.

What advice would you give to students interested in being involved in research?

Be proactive. Seek out what your interests are and go from there. U of M faculty is willing to help and get you involved, you just have to show the initiative.
