How did you get involved in research?
I got an email about research opportunities on campus, and I followed up with the Research office.

How has participating in research impacted your education?
It was interesting applying my math background to a field not entirely related to math specifically. I was able to see how intersections in various studies and disciplines are made.

What has been the most satisfying aspect of your research experience?
My experience with research has given me the chance to actively participate in creating a project that helps people.

What are your future plans? How has participating in research helped you in preparing for those future plans?

I'm up in the air about what I want to do as a career. But I do know that whatever it is, I want to make an impact on the community and the surrounding areas. Seeing how my work has directly impacted other people's lives has inspired me to do as much as I can. It won't be easy. But participating in research was a great first step.

What advice would you give to students interested in being involved in research?

Get involved. Doing research - while difficult and frustrating at times - definitely pays off in the long run. Not only does it look good on a resume, but it gives you real life applications where other things may not.
