Dr. Heather L. Seipke (PhD, communication, 2002; graduate certificate, gerontology, 2002; master’s, communication, 2000; bachelor’s, public relations, 1998) is an associate professor and the director of the communication program at the University of Michigan – Flint. Her research interests include intergenerational communication and communication and aging.

Her most recent publications include "Communication between Grandparents and Grandchildren in Geographically Separated Relationships," Communication Studies, 58, 3 in 2007; "Assisted Living, Elderly Women and Sense of Self: Communicating the Impact of Reduction of Long Standing Activities," Journal of Women and Aging, 19, 3/4 in 2008; and "Relating and Interacting," an introduction to Interpersonal Communication, Second Edition, Best Value Textbook Publishing, Redding, CA, in 2009.

She was awarded the Lois Matz Rosen Junior Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and the Distinguished Professor of the Year Award in 2007, the Lucinda Hinsdale Stone Junior Faculty Award in 2008 and the YWCA Women of Achievement Award in 2009.
