How did you get involved in research?
Professor Dyson approached me about the research opportunity after I took her POL 120 class. I had not thought of doing research until she approached me and I jumped at the opportunity.

How has participating in research impacted your education?
This has been my first exposure to research, and I am learning so much about the analytical side to politics.

What has been the most satisfying aspect of your research experience?
Working with Professor Dyson has given me a chance to not only learn about research but also apply it to something that I care about. It's satisfying to know that this research could affect the way future generations go to school.

What are your future plans? How has participating in research helped you in preparing for those future plans?
I hope to become a writer when I am finished at UM-Flint, and working in research now can help me collect data or research a subject I am writing about in the future.

What advice would you give to students interested in being involved in research?

It's important to realize that research is not limited to one or two areas. Even if the project you are working on does not specifically related to what you're interested, you can develop all sorts of news skills to then apply to your own field of interest. Take as much as you can out of your experience.
