Project Description: Protein Nucleic acid, as the theoretical model of DNA and RNA, has been investigated for more than decades. However, our understanding is still very limited because of the complexity of its structure. Theoretical tools have been used and proven successful in similar studies. In this study, the research focuses on the theoretical prediction of PNA structures and the effect of the solvent on them. The expected data will help for the future experimental studies.
Student Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Get familiar with the scientific software in chemistry;
2. perform the calculations independently;
3. Analyze the data and make the summary;
4. Present the data and American Chemical Society national Meeting;
5. Prepare the manuscript for publication.
Minimum Student Qualifications: General Chemistry I & II.
