Project Description: The project involves extracting campaign contribution data from the Federal Election Commission. The goal is to construct a database of political donations for a set of corporate executives to see if interlocking directorates are associated with campaign contributions.
Student Tasks & Responsibilities: Students will compare a list of corporate directors to sets of Federal Election Commission databases. The FEC files are quite large and care needs to be taken when matching director names with campaign contributions.
Minimum Student Qualifications: Students must have experience using Microsoft EXCEL. Knowledge of statistics and statistical analyses is also desirable but not crucial.
