Project Description: The project studies networked computer security, in a broad sense. In particular, we are examining how the hand-written signature may be useful in improving computer security on the Internet.  Our objectives are to create algorithms that will be able to consistently recognize human handwritten signatures from specific people so that a true "digital signature" method can be developed. The methodology involves obtaining samples of signatures from large numbers of people in the UM-Flint population.

Student Tasks & Responsibilities:  We are looking for a student who can assist our graduate student in our data collection activities.  The specific work requires a student assistant who can help with running an application, on a laptop or other computer, in which signatures are collected and digitally recorded.  Another aspect of the activity is simply helping the subjects to correctly fill-out the consent form.  This is a project that has been approved by IRB.

Minimum Student Qualifications:  Strong familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating environment. Good academic standing.
