Project Title: Design & Development of Custom Constructed Wind Turbine Blade for Small Scale Wind Turbine

Project Description: Develop a custom constructed wind turbine blades to increase power output during low wind speeds. Conduct indoor/outdoor experiments, collect pre test, post test data for statistical analysis. Compare outputs with conventional and existing custom design systems. Develop scholarly manuscript, publish, present at reputable conferences nationwide.

Student Tasks & Responsibilities: Design a custom wind turbine blade on a 3D modeling software meeting the specified parameters by the customer. Develop the custom designed blades for an experimental wind turbine. Collect and analyze wind velocity vs. power output data using statistical package (SPSS).  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Creo Parametric (modeling, drawing, assembly).
  • Proficient in SPSS, MS Office package.
  • Be able to work in a metal/wood shops, follow all required safety procedures.
  • Excellent writing skills, team player.
