Project Title: Design of fuel spray particulate systems and diagnostics

Project Description: This research aims to develop an initial test experiment with possible collaboration with UM-Dearborn for measuring spray size distribution and vapor concentration.
The objective of this project is to build a system that facilitates injecting fuel spray using commercial injectors that are carried by a forced convective flow. Experimental conditions are fixed at room temperature at this point and will be extended to elevated temperature and pressure in the future.
Student Tasks & Responsibilities: The student's task is to design a spray injecting system with precisely controlled spray timing and quality. The student will work with a group of 2-3 students and have regular meeting with the faculty adviser. The student is responsible for designing, CAD drawing, and building and testing the spray systems. The student is also expected to keep clear record of experimental notes including challenges encountered during design process and test conditions.
Minimum Student Qualifications:
1. Junior or senior standing
2. Engineering majors
3. completion of EGR-350 (Fluid Mechanics) is preferred.
