Funding for Faculty Research
This session will provide an overview of funding opportunities (internal and external) and support available for faculty at UM-Flint. The objective of this session is to assist faculty with matching funding sources to their research and creative activity agendas. This is not a grant writing workshop.

Grant Writing
This is an introductory workshop for faculty, staff and students seeking external funding for any type of project. Staff from the Office of Research will facilitate the session and provide information on securing funding from federal and state agencies, and foundations. This workshop is being offered on two different occassions.

Introduction to SPSS
A multi-session introduction to this powerful software to help you with your statistical analysis. The session will be facilitated by staff from the Center for Statistical Consultation and Research (CSCAR). This series is being offered on two different occassions, with four session in the first series and five sessions in the next. Participation in all sessions is required for each series.

Introduction to NVivo
This day-long workshop will introduce participants to NVivo 8; a sophisticated program used to analyze qualitative data. The workshop will cover the basic functions of the program. The session will be facilitated by staff from the Center for Statistical Consultation and Research (CSCAR).

eResearch - Regulatory Management
This workshop will introduce participants to eResearch (Regulatory Management), a web-based system which allows researchers to submit their human subjects research projects to the Institutional Review Board for review and approval. This session will be facilitated by Mary Mandeville from UM-Flint's IRB Staff and John Callewaert. This workshop is being offered on two different occassions.

Student Research Opportunities on Campus
This workshop will introduce students to various research opportunities on campus. The facilitator will discuss the various progams and initiatives currently available for students interested in getting applied research experience. Refreshments will be provided.

In this workshop, the facilitator will provide students with tips on how to effectively present their research, particularly at conferences. Key areas to be discussed include: presentation content, design, and performance. Refreshments will be provided.

ABC's of Research (for students)
This workshop will provide students with an introduction to research. The facilitator will share very basic steps in research design, getting started, identifying interests, and many other things. Participation in all three sections is strongly encouraged. Refreshments will be provided.
