Martha (M.D.) Matlock is the Associate Director of Residential Life in the Office of Housing and Residential Life. M.D. manages the day-to-day residential components of living on campus and strives to ensure that students are having a comfortable and enjoyable living experience. She supervises the residential life staff within the communities.
M.D.’s academic achievements include a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology as well as her Masters of Science degree in College Student Personnel Services & Administration from the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway Arkansas. Prior to her arrival at University of Michigan-Flint, she was the Assistant Director for Residence Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. M.D. started her career in Higher Education at The University of Georgia as a Residence Hall Director.
Outside of her career, M.D. enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, shopping, watching reality TV, and cheering on those Georgia Bulldogs and Dallas Cowboys!
Trever Allcock is the Area Coordinator in the Office of Housing and Residential Life. Trever recruits, encourages, and trains the resident assistants through a lead-by-example approach. He supervises and coordinates with the resident assistants of First Street and Riverfront to make sure everyone has a phenomenal experience living on campus.
Trever’s academic achievements include a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Forensic Science from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He has a Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where he focused on supporting young adults to long-term success. Prior to his arrival at University of Michigan-Flint, he was the community development intern and a resident assistant for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Outside of his career, Trever enjoys spending time playing various trading card games, traveling, reading fantasy novels, and various other geeky things such as modeling or watching anime!
Alex Straley is the Housing Coordinator in the Office of Housing and Residential Life. She has worked in the world of Housing and Residential Life since 2012 when she began her career at the University of British Columbia. She returned to the States to complete her Master of Arts degree in Administrative Science with a Student Affairs Certificate from Saginaw Valley State University while she was a Resident Director there. She joined us in Flint in the private student-housing sector in 2015 and transitioned to the University in 2016. She enjoys meeting our students during Orientation and helping them integrate into the campus community each semester.
In her spare time, Alex enjoys practicing yoga, eating pasta, and cheering for the Red Wings.
Laura King serves as the Administrative support for Housing and Residential Life. She processes all procurement, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budget-related tracking, as well as, a variety of other tasks related to the office oversight. Laura brings years of experience from both the Ann Arbor Campus and the Health System to her current position.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Flint, and is currently enrolled in the Masters of English Language and Literature program here.
In her free time she enjoys gardening, cooking, concerts, home improvements, and spending time with her family/friends and fur babies.
