September 25th – October 1st, 2004
09/27/04 Monday A purse was found by a house keeper in French Hall and turned in as found property. The purse contained identification as well as a substance suspected to be marijuana. The owner admitted to ownership of the marijuana. Charges for possession of marijuana will be sought.
09/27/04 Monday A student employee in the William S. White building picked up a stapler and was looking at it when it shot a staple into his finger. The victim was transported to the clinic for emergency treatment.
09/29/04 Wednesday A group of students in a class at the William S. White building informed their professor that property had been stolen from them after they left their property unattended in a classroom. Six days after the thefts occurred, one of the victims saw her property being carried by an unknown subject. She confronted him. The suspect dropped her property and ran. Public Safety is attempting to ascertain the suspect's identity.
09/30/04 Thursday A woman was contacted and identified after a complaint was made that she was begging for money in a parking lot adjacent to the William S. White building . The suspect had a criminal bench warrant for her arrest but because of the time, she could not be arraigned on the warrant at the court. The county jail did not have room for overnight lodging. The suspect was trespassed and released. Charges of disorderly conduct (begging) and obstructing justice (failure to appear for a court date), will be sought.
09/30/04 Thursday Hit and run property damage was reported on a car parked in the Water Street parking structure.
10/01/04 Friday A man called the Recreation Center in an attempt to obtain the home phone number of a female student claiming he had found her wallet. He was not provided this number and was requested to hold while transferred to Public Safety. He hung up. This subject was later identified. He admitted he had her wallet and agreed to turn it in, claiming he had found it. The property owner in this case did not know for sure if her wallet had been stolen from her or if she had lost the property.
