Crime Incidents
December 17th – December 23rd , 2005
12/17/05 DPS received a call of two subjects walking through campus who were seen throwing a wallet to the ground. They were investigated. They claimed that they found the wallet then threw it on the ground. One of them was in possession of a MTA bus pass belonging to another person. This investigation continues.
12/19/05 Several parking meters located in the Water Street parking ramp were broken into. The City of Flint has had a rash of similar thefts throughout the downtown area. This investigation continues.
12/19/05 Someone attempted to steal a computer from a smart cart in a classroom in French Hall. An audible alarm scared the suspect away.
12/19/05 In the same time period of the incident above, a cell phone belonging to one student and a wallet belonging to another were stolen from the 3rd floor of the University Center. Several days after these thefts, Public Safety arrested a subject in connection to an unrelated theft. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen cell phone. He also had ID and credit card account information from the stolen wallet. The suspect was arraigned on the outstanding warrant and additional investigation will be conducted with the discovery of evidence from the earlier thefts.
12/21/05 A business in the University Pavilion reported that someone had jumped their counters during the night. It did not appear as if anything was taken.
12/21/05 A University credit card was stolen from an employee’s purse in the William S. White building. The card was subsequently used at the Genesee Valley mall to make numerous purchases. Surveillance tape has been ordered that shows the suspect. This investigation continues.
12/21/05 A car stereo was stolen from an unlocked car parked in the parking lot by the Murchie Science building. This investigation continues.
12/22/05 A video camera was reported missing from a department at the William S. White building. It is believed to have been removed from the office sometime between 12/12/05 and 12/14/05. This investigation continues.
