Weekly Summary

October 28th - November 3rd, 2006

10/28/06  A fire alarm was activated in the Central Energy Plant when a contractor accidentally bumped into the fire panel. DPS responded and reset the alarm panel.

11/02/06 DPS responded to a report of a disorderly person in the University Center. Upon arrival, DPS was informed that student was being loud and making threatening statements about another. Subjects were identified and this incident was handled administratively.
 
11/02/06 A Recreation Center patron playing basketball became angry and kicked a plastic chair. The chair was damaged. The patron was escorted from the facility. This incident will be handled administratively.

October 21st - October 27th, 2006

10/24/06  A purse was stolen after being left unattended in French Hall. This investigation continues.

10/25/06  A subject (non-student) was found sleeping in a classroom under a desk in the early morning hours in the Murchie Science building. A warrant was obtained for entering a building without permission.

10/27/06  A laptop computer and a digital camera and charging base were stolen from a classroom in the William S. White building. The camera and base were located in a nearby men’s restroom however the laptop computer was not found. This investigation continues.

10/27/06  A wallet accidentally left behind by its owner in the Recreation Center was reported missing. This investigation continues.  

October 14th - October 20th, 2006

10/14/06 A Public Safety officer was assaulted by a woman while she was being arrested. The woman had been arrested on numerous previous incidents after being found loitering in the Murchie Science building after hours. She was charged with assaulting a police officer. She has pled guilty and is doing a 20 day sentence.

10/17/06  A change machine attached to a copy machine located in the William S. White building was stolen by persons unknown. This investigation continues.

10/17/06  A man falsely stated he had lost his Recreation Center membership in order to avoid having to pay an entrance fee. He was located by Public Safety and escorted from the facility.

10/18/06  Public Safety stopped a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle seen leaving a larceny at Mott Community College. The driver was arrested for several driving violations. Charges are being sought for driving while license suspended -second offense, no insurance and open alcohol in a vehicle. This information was turned over to Mott Public Safety for additional investigation.

10/20/06  Public Safety was called in reference to the recovery of stolen credit cards. The credit cards had been located near the Berridge Motel on Garland Street. The case has been turned over to Flint PD due to the fact that the crime and recovery did not occur on campus.

October 7th - October 13th, 2006

10/09/06  A woman previously trespassed from returning to University property was found a third time loitering in the Murchie Science Building after the building was closed. She was arrested, trespassed and released. Criminal charges for entering a building with out permission and use of another’s Michigan State ID were obtained from the Genesee County Prosecutor’s office.

10/09/06  A vending machine was broken into and the money removed. The suspect in this case is believed to be the woman arrested in the above incident. This investigation continues.

September 30th - October 6th, 2006

10/01/06  A woman previous trespassed for loitering in the Murchie Science building after hours was found again in the same building after building closing.. A trespassing warrant will be sought for her arrest. It was also determined she had lied about her name. She had numerous warrants for her arrest under her true name.

10/01/06  Hit and run property damage accident was reported to a car parked in the Mill street parking ramp. Further investigation is underway.

10/02/06  Public Safety assisted Flint PD with the detention of juvenile males damaging the flag poles at the International Institute.

10/02/06  A subject on parole with a warrant for his arrest was found sleeping on a couch in the Murchie Science building. His parole officer was notified and she arrested him the next day when he came in for a meeting. A trespassing warrant will be sought.

10/02/06  A subject was arrested after Public Safety received a complaint in the Library from Library staff . The subject was arrested on an arrest warrant and transported to court to be arraigned.

10/04/06  Hit and run property damage was reported to a car parked in Lot A. This incident remains under investigation.

10/04/06  A man went to the restroom leaving his hearing aids unattended at his work station in the Murchie Science building computer lab. When he returned, he discovered his hearing aids were gone. This investigation continues.
