About Our Community Programs

The School of Education and Human Services at the University of Michigan-Flint proudly offers several high-quality early childhood community programs for families with young children living in and around the Flint community. Designed with the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early childhood education, these programs employ research-based, holistic teaching and learning strategies used to guide children in their development of physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills. With additional support from UM-Flint partnerships with Flint Community Schools and the C.S. Mott Foundation, these programs also express our School’s commitment to support our youngest members of the Flint community during the water crisis and recovery.

Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC)

The Early Childhood Development Center is a ‘living laboratory’ where adults as well as children come to learn. We believe that we learn from the children just as much as they are learning from us. The center is located on the University of Michigan-Flint campus at 1313 William S. White Building. Click MORE to visit the ECDC website.
