student involvement & Leadership

There are many ways that you can get involved during your time at the University of Michigan-Flint. We encourage you to join or start a student club/organization, become a member of a fraternity or sorority, attend a program sponsored by the Center for Gender & Sexuality or the Intercultural Center, and participate in a program sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), or play in a club sport. If you are interested in living on campus, explore our Residential Learning Communities.

The work of Student Involvement & Leadership (SIL) is about learning, engagement, and inclusion. Our goal is to offer opportunities for students to:

  • Become engaged and responsible leaders
  • Develop life skills and an understanding of one’s values, interests, and goals
  • Think critically and creatively, solve problems and develop new ideas
  • Be inclusive of people with various identities and perspectives while embracing a diverse campus community

We know that students’ education success is increased when they are active participants in the learning process both in and outside of the classroom. Involving every student in a meaningful way to learn and develop themselves leads to a rich and transformational college experience.

We look forward to meeting and working with you!
