Riverfront FAQ

Where is Riverfront located?

The address is 1 Riverfront Center West, Flint, MI 48502. It is located directly across from the University Pavilion on Saginaw Street. The School of Management is on the second floor of the Riverfront Center.

Where will students be able to park?

There are several parking structures and lots nearby the Riverfront. Please see the map below. In addition, the campus MTA bus route has a stop in front of the University Pavilion directly across from the Riverfront Center.

NEW! Available to School of Management students with evening classes at Riverfront

If your class at Riverfront ends Monday-Thursday between 7 p.m.-10 p.m., and you have a valid Mcard, you are able to request Mcard access to the Pavilion Pass-Through Program.  Get out of the snow and cold and safely traverse the skywalk system from the Pavilion through to the University Center and beyond.

Using email, simply request your Mcard activation by sending the request to pgraham@umflint.edu with your name and UM ID number with the subject title ‘Pass Through Program Request’.  You will receive a return email notifying you that your card has been activated.

While you are waiting for card activation, you may use the Pass-Through Program simply by showing your valid Mcard to the Pavilion monitor at the Pavilion entry door on Saginaw Street (facing Riverfront). You will be given access along with the option of completing a short form asking for your name and UM ID number for Mcard access.

When will classes start in the Riverfront?

Classes have begun in the Riverfront Center. The classroom assignments have been updated in SIS. Please check SIS prior to the start of your class to determine which classroom you will be in.

Please note: The first week you should give yourself extra time to ensure that you get to your classes on time and to familiarize yourself with the Riverfront and new parking options.

Will the school’s contact information change?

The phone numbers and fax numbers for the office, faculty and staff will remain the same. The new address will be 1 Riverfront Center West, Flint, MI 48502. 

Currently, access to the Riverfront is monitored by security. Will the doors be open to access for the business students and visitors?

Yes, the Riverfront doors will be open during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). After 5:00 p.m. be sure to carry your MCard as a swipe card to gain access to the building. Please be sure the carry your MCard with you at all times.

Is Riverfront disability accessible?

Yes, the Riverfront will be disability accessible with elevators to the second floor, wheelchair ramps, wheelchair seating and Braille signage. Handicap parking is available in the University Pavilion Parking Deck.

What else can we expect in the new facility?

The Riverfront has many new features. There will be a finance lab with interactive displays and a video classroom for instructional purposes. Breakout rooms will be accessible for students to meet in groups. There will be a designated student organization office area and a graduate student workroom. There will be a computer lab for SOM students open 24/7. The student lounge area overlooks the Flint River and Riverfront atrium.

What options will be available for food?

The Riverfront Center is located directly across from the University Pavilion, which has several dining options. In addition, many restaurants and coffee shops are located conveniently within walking distance on Saginaw Street.
