Seyed Mehdian, Ph.D

Professor of Finance


Seyed Mehdian is Professor of Finance in School of Management at the University of Michigan-Flint. Prior to joining to U of M-Flint, he has taught at Temple University, Western New College, Ohio State University, and University of Baltimore. Seyed has published fifty scholarly articles in profession/academic journals such as Journal of Banking and Finance; Financial Services Research; Journal of Business Finance and Accounting; Real Estate Economics; Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics; and Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. He is on the editorial boards of several finance journals and serves as Vice President of the Midwest Finance Association. Seyed has conducted and developed several study aboard courses to Russia, China, India, Japan, and Taiwan. He was awarded Fulbright Senior Research Scholar twice in 2007 and 2008 to carry out research and teaching in Romania. Seyed regularly travels to Romania to deliver lectures and carry out research projects at Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi. He has served in a number of doctoral dissertation committees and currently serves as an external member of a dissertation committee. Seyed has been reviewer of several books such as "An Introduction to the Mathematics of Financial Derivatives" by S. Neftci, "Investment: An Introduction," by H.B. Mayo, and "Cases in Financial Management" by E.F. Brigham. He has also reviewed papers for many professional journals including Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Financial Review, and many others. Seyed is the recipient of the 2001 University of Michigan-Flint Faculty Scholarly and Creative Achievement Award. He is currently serves as Area II Coordinator at the School of Management.
