Am I eligible for a SOMA?
  All students in good academic standing who have been admitted into the MBA program are eligible to apply for an assistantship. Students must maintain a 5.0 (B) in each semester of their appointment. Assistantships may not be combined with a Graduate Student Research Assistantship (GSRA).


Where can I get an application?
  Please contact the School of Management at (810) 237-6680 to request an application or download one here.


Is anything else required?
  A completed application along with your résumé and a personal essay of 250-500 words expressing your interest in and reasons for seeking a SOMA must be turned in to Doritta McDaniel, Student Services Coordinator in the School of Management. A recommendation from a prior faculty supervisor should be included, if applicable.


When is the Application Deadline?
 
  • August 1 - Fall/Winter Assignment
  • December 1 – Winter/Spring/Summer Assignment


What happens next?
  The School of Management will review your application and materials, while considering your previous graduate work at UM-Flint. Students will be assigned to a specific project and project supervisor and will be notified by e-mail and U.S. mail of the final decision.
