Math Anxiety: Math anxiety can result from several reasons, two of which are: (1) the “mile wide, inch deep” mathematics curriculum in this country is often taught as a mysterious, memorized, rule-based subject that does not make sense to many people; (2) individuals may have been bullied, embarrassed, or deeply frustrated at some point while trying to learn the subject. In this workshop we will address these two common causes of math anxiety and discuss ways in which individuals can learn to deal their math anxiety. The way you studied or the way the lesson was taught might be right for your friend, but not for you. And if you studied a different way, you may find the learning process easier. This workshop will give you the tools to effectively identify your learning style and apply it towards improving your study skills. Facilitated by Kelly Miller, Academic Advisor and Career Counselor.
