Monday-Friday during spring break
All UM-Flint students
University of Michigan-Flint’s Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program enables students to learn about issues such as homelessness, poverty, hunger, violence, environmental issues, and complex social and cultural issues. Students will listen to and understand community needs and continue a commitment to community service and social change. Board Members/Team Leaders are very important members of the ASB team. They are responsible for helping to select and guide their groups in education, reflection, selecting sites, marketing, recruitment and fundraising throughout the year and during the spring break trip. It is expected that Board Members/Team Leaders will attend all meetings. Members will also go through education and training meetings together to develop leadership skills that will help them best facilitate a positive and educational group experience. Ideally, Board Members/Site Leaders would have previous experience with ASB as a participant, but ASB experience is not mandatory. Note: All ASB Board Member/Site Leader hours will count toward the Commitment to Service (CTS) Program.
