Which VA Education Benefit Should You Use?

 

Veterans’ generally receive 36 months of education benefits from the VA.  The exception to this is the Survivor’s Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program and the Vocational and Rehabilitation Program where the Veteran or their dependant will receive 48 months of benefits.  However, many Veterans’ qualify for more than one benefit in which case, the Veteran will receive a total of 48 months of benefits between the two programs.  The following links are from the VA’s website and describe the different education benefits you may qualify for.  For more information regarding which benefit may be best for you, contact the University of Michigan – Flint’s Certifying Official at (810) 424-5391.

· Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)

· Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)

· Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)

· Educational Assistance Test Program (Section 901)

· Survivors’ and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (DEA)

· National Call to Service Program
