- Student Veterans of America Chapter Leader Scholarship
http://www.studentveterans.org/?p=1673
Chapter officers have volunteered to help better the lives of their fellow veterans, but that responsibility requires a tremendous amount of time, energy, dedication, and passion. These leaders balance chapter activities, full course loads, and family obligations to ensure that the SVA mission is carried out at the local level. Without their hard work, SVA does not succeed. To acknowledge these leaders’ sacrifices and hard work, SVA will be awarding one (1) student veteran a $10,000 scholarship for the 2012 academic year.
(Open July 25th, Closes October 15th)
- Student Veterans of America STEM Scholarship
http://www.studentveterans.org/?p=1664
Much like the original GI Bill recipients of the 1940s and 50s, today’s veterans will bring invaluable skills and spirit to businesses, nonprofits, and the government. These student veterans have the potential to usher in a new generation of American progress and to address some of our nation’s most pressing needs. Other countries are quickly eclipsing our excellence in science, technology, engineering, and math. To compete in tomorrow’s global economy we need to continue to develop new scientists, engineers, and mathematicians at home. So, in light of American’s sagging career development in STEM and the certain onslaught of advanced careers in the STEM industry, Student Veterans of America will incentivize current and future STEM college student veterans with their first STEM Scholarship.
(Opens July 25th, Closes October 15th)
- Tillman Military Scholars
http://www.pattillmanfoundation.org/tillman-military-scholars.aspx
Our nation was built on the sacrifices made by the young men and women in the military who demonstrate the very kind of leadership we seek to inspire in all young people. Yet, even with the GI Bill, many service members and their dependents (children and spouses) still lack the financial means to pursue their greater educational goals. In 2009 the Pat Tillman Foundation established Tillman Military Scholarships to close this gap and help more service members and their dependents access educational opportunities and encourage their life-long commitment to service. The Tillman Military Scholarships are intended to cover direct study-related expenses such as tuition, fees, and books, as well as other needs such as room and board and child care. The Pat Tillman Foundation allocates scholarships to individual applicants through the Foundation and through select university partners with existing service member support programs and enrollment.
