Write-on-Site

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO COMMIT TO YOUR RESEARCH & WRITING?

If you’re someone who needs to be around others when you’re writing and/or you feel isolated (and you want a little accountability) join a

WRITE-ON-SITE GROUP

How it works:

  • At the appointed time, people show up at the designated space, and everyone writes (or reads, or analyzes data – whatever they need to do to move their scholarship forward)
  • You notice whether people show up and gently nudge them when they don’t (a little accountability)
  • No reading each other's work
  • No discussion during the writing time
  • You just get into the same physical space and engage in the act of writing

Groups are now forming. If interested, please register.

Online Accountability

It can be challenging to stick to our goals, particularly when it comes to things that don’t have built-in accountability. If you would like some accountability for achieving your writing/research/creative work goals this semester, please join our FMP online accountability program.

We've got a number of groups already formed and busily writing! JOIN them!

Research has shown that a consistent writing practice (even just 30 minutes each day) increases productivity. You don't always need HUGE blocks of time. You need to sit down and consistently make progress. "Writing" is defined as anything from the seed of an idea to a complete manuscript or creative work.

We are using stickK.com for our accountability groups. We'll add you to a writing accountability group with faculty colleagues here at UM-Flint. You'll identify your goals, track your time, chart your progress, encourage your group members, and have mutual accountability.
