Bishr Al-Dabagh - Alumn

In 2005, honors scholar Bishr Al-Dabagh graduated with three degrees: Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Honors Biology and Honors Mass Media Communication. Bishr has been Student Government Council vice president, president of Honors Student Council, the Student Communications Association and the Muslim Student Association. He has been the captain of his intramural soccer and basketball teams. Yet it is his research work and the Honors Program that Bishr credits as the most valuable and transforming experiences of his UM-Flint career.

“It doesn’t really matter where you are,” said Bishr, “it is what you make out of it. If you want to do something, there is always somebody here to help you do it. The opportunities are everywhere. In every field, professors at UM-Flint are doing their own research, and encourage students to get involved too. They know that real, hands-on research connects students with study in a way that books and lectures cannot.”

Bishr is currently attending medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.
