Dave Stahl - Computer & Information Systems (MS)
I had received a BS in engineering twenty years ago, and after working for many years at General Motors as a materials engineer decided to return to school to earn a computer science degree. My motivation was mainly to be able to formalize the programming and software development experience that I had obtained during my years doing this at an “amateur” level while at GM. My goal was to be able to redirect my career away from engineering and into full time software development. UM-Flint helped me gain the prerequisite coursework and start the MS in Computer and Information Systems program.
I have been very pleased with the quality of the program and faculty here and feel I have obtained an excellent education. I was recently laid off from GM as part of their most recent downsizing and was able to find a new position as a C++/Unix programmer at EDS. I am sure that this process would have been much more difficult if not for the knowledge and experience that I obtained from my graduate studies. I am very much looking forward to completing the program, and to my future at EDS.
