D. Elizabeth Jordan, Ph.D. - Alumna, National Association for the Education of Young Children
In the spring of 2008, I earned a Ph.D. in Family and Child Ecology from Michigan State University. I am currently a Regional Assessor for the Accreditation Academy of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). As an assessor, I travel to childcare centers throughout the Midwest to gather data pertaining to the quality of care they provide for children from birth through eight years of age. The data is compiled by the Academy as part of the accreditation process for childcare centers.
My education at University of Michigan-Flint gave me a structured foundation to build upon. My participation in the Honors Program allowed me to experience graduate school on the Ann Arbor campus, through the Summer Research Opportunity Program, while I was still an undergraduate. That experience inspired me to pursue my masters degree. The education program provided me with a solid grounding in theory, as well as practical, real-world experiences that allowed me to become a leader in my field.
