Teresa Carlson - Biology (MS)
As an undergraduate, I took a class called ‘Field Biology’ during which we spent two full days in the field learning about the plant, bird and herpetological species found in Michigan. What I had not realized was that the class would change my life. I fell in love with salamanders and began studying them the following year. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I began searching for a graduate biology program that would allow me to continue my study, and soon found that the UM-Flint MS in Biology program offered me the education and convenience I was looking for. Through my research experience at UM-Flint, I have learned a great deal about life in addition to the organisms I study. There are few experiences in my life that have taught me as much as what I have learned through the research opportunities I have been given here. Not only has it helped my professional development, but the conversations and friendships that develop as a result of the research have also played an important role in my life.
