Thomas Delaney - Education (MA)
I chose the University of Michigan-Flint’s MAC program because it met all of my needs. Time is a critical factor when it comes to considering a career change when you are in your mid-forties and a parent of two. The MAC program allowed me to completely change my career in a one-year time span, and it provided me with the tools to put the education to use immediately in an elementary school. While I was in the MAC program, I realized that my true calling was in the field of special education.
Again, the University of Michigan-Flint provided a program designed to work around the strenuous schedule of a working teacher. I am currently working on my second master’s Degree at the university, and my enrollment in the Special Education program has provided me with the credentials to work as a special education teacher at the middle school level while concurrently working toward the credentials and degree. The flexibility of the student-centered programs in the education department is what continues to draw me back to the University of Michigan-Flint.
