Primary Care Patients (PC)

Adult and Family Nurse Practitioners evaluate and treat acute and chronic diseases via diagnosis, disease management, health promotion, and health maintenance protocols and practices. While visiting our practice, patients may encounter advanced standing students who are currently enrolled and earning their Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degrees. The UHWC provides these upper level students the opportunity to apply their clinical skills in a patient care environment that supports clinical and academic excellence. The Urban Health and Wellness Center provides outpatient healthcare services to UM-Flint students, faculty, our community, and members of HealthPlus Partners. Please identify yourself in one of the groups below to determine your visit needs, costs, and time availability. Also, please feel free to contact us for more information or for help with any questions you may have by calling: (810) 424-5269.

Primary Care Patient Information- Please call to schedule your appointment today!

A Primary Care Provider (PCP) is your main health care provider in non-emergency situations. Your PCP's role is to:

  • Provide preventive care and teach healthy lifestyle choices
  • Identify and treat common medical conditions
  • Assess the urgency of your medical problems and direct you to the best place for that care
  • Make referrals to medical specialists when necessary

Primary Care at UHWC:

Medical Assistants manage the front desk to answer calls and schedule appointments. Financials are also addressed in this area. A Medical Assistant Specialist will call you back to a private patient care room. Here you will be measured and assessed for vital signs and in office diagnostics as appropriate. Nurse Practitioners are the Primary Care Providers in the UHWC Nurse Managed Health Center. Nurse Practitioners can assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions. The Urban Health and Wellness Center also offers onsite laboratory services and Physical Therapy.
