Foursquare

Foursquare is a location-based application that allows users to “check in” at locations to receive venue-specific tips and promotions. The University of Michigan-Flint maintains an official branded page on Foursquare. Venues that have been claimed as part of the university’s account appear on the page. When your department is listed as a venue on Foursquare, you are able to offer specials or incentives for users to check in.

When students or community members "checks in" at a UM-Flint venue, their networks immediately see where they are. Some connect their check-ins to Twitter and Facebook. Others follow their friends' activities using the Foursquare app. In any case, Foursquare can be a great tool for spreading the word about an event, sale, resource, or fun fact.
