Installing Java

The CMS requires Java for certain features such as importing a file.  If you attempt to use one of these features without installing Java, you will receive an error message.  The error message should appear similar to one of these examples:

Internet Explorer 6: 

Internet Explorer 7 (after this error you will receive a message similar to the Internet Explorer 6 error):

To avoid receiving an error, you should install Java on your system if you plan to work with the CMS.  Follow the steps below to install Java on your system.  Please note:  You must have administrator access to follow these directions.

Installation Directions for Java:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2.  Click on .
  3. Follow the onscreen prompts to install Java. 

 

Running Java

 

When first attempting to import a file, Java will open and you will receive the security warning below:

Check the box "Always trust content from this publisher." and click the Run button.

 

Next, you will receive a prompt to allow creation of the C:\IWTemp folder, which the CMS uses to store your local or downloaded files:

Click the OK button to continue.

 

If you do not follow the steps above, Java will error and you will not be able to import any files.

The only way to reset this error is to clear the Java Cache on your computer. After you have cleared your Java Cache, re-enter the CMS and click Run and OK when prompted again. After doing this, you will be able to import your files using Java. Enabling Java in the Browser

If you are still having trouble with loading a web page and continue to get an error, try following these steps:


Internet Explorer
Open the "Enable or Disable Add-ons" menu by clicking on Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable Add-ons.

 
Check to make sure that the "Sun Java Console" is set to Enabled.


 If "Sun Java Console" is marked as disabled, Select the Enable radio button and click the OK button. A message should then prompt you to restart Internet Explorer.

Click the OK button to restart the browser.  After Internet Explorer is restarted, your Java should be working.

 

Firefox

From the file menu choose Tools > Add-ons. Then click the Enable button.
