I am a senior, English Major, writing specialist, writing tutor, and managing editor of The Michigan Times.
Dure most days you can almost always find me in the M-Times office in the UCEN or at the Writing Center.
My future plans include graphic design, digital media and technology, as well as writing, teaching, and reading great literature. One day I will fuse the concept and the narrative.
Bernie C.

My name is Bernita and I am a student at the University of Michigan-Flint. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications. I have a concentration in Media Studies. My goal is to become a news writer in Broadcast Jorunalism or Print Journalism. I am a current Senior. My hobbies are singing, drawing, writing, and reading.
Emma

I can be found all over this campus, but at more specific times I can be found in The Writing Center. I'm currently majoring in English with a specialization in writing and am planning on becoming some sort of journalist, probably somewhere on the Internet. Aside from writing I love to tap dance and...actually, I love to dance no matter what style it is! When I'm not doing my homework I'm either dancing, teaching dance, or talking about dance.
John

Born from the unholy union of word-processors and transgressive fiction, John McKeown is the Literator, descending upon bastions of writing mistakes with all the fury of a lightening storm and all the wrath of an earthquake, wiping out typos and mishandlings of grammar before they can take root. He also enjoys cake.
KT

Hi, I’m KT and I’m a senior dual majoring in Spanish and English with a specialization in writing with a minor in Communication. This is my first year as a tutor at the Writing Center and when I am not there, I spend my time on campus involved in Student Government, the Spanish Club and the College Dems. Eventually, I would like to receive a PhD in English and if I grow up, I want to be an English Professor and a writer.
Leah

Hello everyone!
My name is Leah Gebhart. I graduated from Lapeer West High School in 2005. I went to Grand Valley for my first year of college and then transferred here. I am an English major in my junior year. When I grow up, I want to be a professor of literature anywhere but Michigan. I like to read and watch movies; I also enjoy coffee shops and book stores. Some of my favorite authors are Oscar Wilde, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, and Alexander McCall Smith.
Lauren

Hi, my name is Lauren, and I am an English major. I am obsessed with three things: Shakespeare, penguins, and coffee. I can often frequently be found around campus reading Shakespeare, using a penguin bookmark, and drinking coffee. If you don't see me around campus, you probably just haven't looked hard enough. My goal is to continue what I'm doing right now--engaging with fellow students in discussions on a variety of topics (but primarily related to Shakespeare, penguins, or coffee). I don't want to ever stop learning.
Martha

Martha is the Sweet Potato Queen of the Writing Center. She is also den mother of the fifteen other tutors. Martha enjoys taking on enormous writing projects, living in Europe, giving tutors candy and the comedy of linguistic errors. She recently finished a Master's program in International Studies and this is her sixth year working in the Writing Center.
Patrick

Patrick's hair is red because of a demon that resides in his soul. Over time, the demon has caused Patrick to be possessed of an incandescent rage that makes him glow when he stands underneath a harvest moon. The rage is quelled only through the act of helping others with their writing.
Roger

I'm an English grad student from the far flung enemy territory of Michigan State University (I'm a turncoat). It is my goal to turn each and every student at UM-Flint into a superbly confident, superbly capable writer. After my work here is done, I plan on returning to MSU for my Ph.D (I'm a fickle turncoat).
Tracy

I am a political science major with a minor in philosophy. I am interested in international relations and diplomacy. If I am not in class or at one of my two jobs, I am sleeping, watching a movie, or reading a book. I am also interested in music and any subject that is not math.
Scott Russell

What does one say about one's self that has not already been said (in complete candor) by one's closest associates? I was born into a post-nuclear catastrophe, a land in which people, believing themselves free to say whatever they wished, said little, if anything, interesting. In the course of my life, I have seen the American standard change from one-car-one-television, to two cars and multiple televisions, to one used car, one functional television and a slightly out-of-date PC. I was alive as the Soviet Union morphed, overnight, back into Russia, and wondered which transformation was caused by the full moon. I have fathered children and in so doing, realized that the purpose of a person's life is nothing more than to replace the self with something a bit younger. This is a noble and worthwhile purpose which has too long played third fiddle behind religion and money. Over the years, I have noticed that life imitates art in that it too is a doodle.
