UM-Flint Application Deadlines
UM-Flint admits undergraduate applicants on a rolling basis. This means that we don’t have an application deadline. We recommend that all students complete the admission process at least one month prior to the start of their first semester, in order to allow time for placement testing, orientation, and evaluation for financial aid and scholarships.

How to Apply to UM-Flint
The University of Michigan-Flint’s online application is simple and free. It can be completed by most students in about 10 minutes. First-year students can apply by submitting our free online application or through the Common Application.
The University of Michigan-Flint is test-optional, but we encourage students to submit SAT or ACT scores for full scholarship consideration.
Step 1: Apply Online
Admission to the University of Michigan-Flint is competitive. We recommend submitting your online application as soon as possible to secure your spot. It’s free to apply, and the application takes only about ten minutes to complete!
Once you’ve applied and submitted your transcript, you can expect to receive an admission decision within one to two weeks.
Step 2: Submit Official Transcripts
After applying, please request that your high school send UM-Flint an official copy of your transcript. We prefer to receive transcripts electronically. If your school can only send a paper transcript, it should be mailed to the following address:

Step 3: Review Your Scholarship Options
The First-Year Merit Scholarship program offers incoming students a wide range of scholarship options. Your application to the university serves as your scholarship application.
While SAT/ACT scores are not required for admission, we recommend submitting your scores for full scholarship consideration. Scholarships are also available for students who do not submit test scores. We accept test scores that are sent by the testing agency or that are included on an official high school transcript.
There is no deadline for most First-Year Merit Scholarships. However, to be considered for our full-tuition scholarship, the True Blue Merit Scholarship, you must be admitted by March 1.

UM-Flint students are automatically considered, upon admission, for the Go Blue Guarantee, a historic program offering free tuition for high-achieving, in-state undergraduates from lower-income households.

Go Blue Guarantee
At UM-Flint, we’re committed to making higher education more accessible and affordable for Michigan students. We proudly offer our Go Blue Guarantee, a full-tuition scholarship available to first-year students who:
- Are eligible for in-state tuition.
- Are eligible to apply for financial aid.
- Have family incomes of $65,000 or less and assets below $50,000.
- Are pursuing their first bachelor’s degree.
- Are enrolled full-time.
- Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or above.
Income and assets are verified each academic year based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the guarantee requires students to apply for financial aid. First-year students are eligible for up to four years (eight semesters), and transfers are eligible for up to two years (four semesters). Continuing students’ semesters of eligibility are determined based on the number of semesters already attended at UM-Flint.

Apply for Financial Aid
UM-Flint strongly encourages you to submit the FAFSA and include our school code 002327, no matter your financial situation. This qualifies you for various types of financial aid and can help you mitigate your educational costs. UM-Flint has a priority FAFSA deadline of March 1. Submitting your FAFSA by this date ensures you will be considered for all available scholarships and grants.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes Clery Act crime and fire statistics for the preceding three years for locations owned and/or controlled by UM-Flint, the required policy disclosure statements, and other important safety-related information.
