class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the University of Michigan-Flint, we want you to focus on your education\u2014not on how you\u2019ll pay for college. Our First-Year Merit Scholarship program offers funding to students with strong academic records and a desire to excel. Awards range up to $10,000 a year with limited full-tuition scholarships available.<br><br>Students are automatically considered for First-Year Merit Scholarships at the time of admission based on your test scores and GPA\u2014no separate application or essay required!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First-Year Merit Scholarships are awarded automatically based on your cumulative high school grade point average and, if submitted, your official SAT or ACT scores. If you\u2019ve taken the SAT or ACT and have not submitted your official scores to UM-Flint, we strongly encourage you to do so. Your test scores will only be used to determine if you qualify for an increased scholarship offer. They will never be used to lower your scholarship offer or change your admission decision.<br><br>First-Year Merit Scholarships are available to students who are enrolling in college for the first time since graduating from high school. Students who took college courses during high school\u2014including students who enrolled at UM-Flint as DEEP, Early College, or dual enrollment students\u2014are eligible for First-Year Merit Scholarships as long as they have not attended another college or university after graduating from high school.ACT\/SAT Students&nbsp;who have a 2.7 to a 3.7 GPA will be awarded $1,000 per year&nbsp;for a total of $4,000.&nbsp;Students with a 3.7+ GPA will be awarded $3,000 per year&nbsp;for a total of $12,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Four years, automatic consideration through Aug. 31, 2025, for all but our True Blue Merit Award. Students admitted after March 1 will not be eligible for the True Blue Merit Award (full in-state award), but will still be eligible for our $10,000\/annual award.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UM-Flint reserves the right to make changes to scholarship and renewal criteria as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Eligible students admitted in summer 2026 will begin receiving their awards in the fall 2026 semester. Awards are only distributed in the fall and winter terms. The competition is held in February 2026 and is by invitation only. To qualify for consideration for the competition, you must complete an admissions application (including test scores and transcripts) by Dec. 1, 2024.
