Africana Studies Honors Program (BA)

Africana Studies Department information  

All majors are encouraged to meet with their Africana Studies advisors at least twice during each semester or term that they are enrolled.


A. Africana Studies (33 credits)

All requirements of the General Program in Africana Studies (BA) , to include:

  • AFA 395 - Topics in African Diaspora Studies (3).
  • AFA 396 - Topics in African Studies (3).

B. Honors (11 credits)

All requirements of the University Honors Program , to include:

  • One from:

  • AFA 495 - Honors Thesis I (4).
  • HON 495 - Honors Thesis I (Off-Campus Study) (4).

  • One from:

  • AFA 496 - Honors Thesis II (4).
  • HON 496 - Honors Thesis II (Senior Honors Project) (4).

  • HON 498 - Senior Honors Seminar (3)


Prospective Honors concentration students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above as well as with the particular procedures for acceptance into the Africana Studies Honors Program.
