Helping Faculty & Staff During the COVID-19 Pandemic

University of Michigan-Flint faculty and staff are helping students and each other through this challenging time. In an effort to provide support and assistance to all employees, there are a collection of services and options to help with everything from remote work, to holding virtual meetings, to seeking work/life balance from University Human Resource

Winter 2021 Semester

Faculty and staff should continue working remotely unless specified otherwise by the needs of their College or School, or through direction of their supervisor through April 30, 2021. The campus will continue operating remotely under a normal business work schedule through the Winter 2021 semester. This means that each department must continue to operate under normal business hours, based on the UM-Flint Office Hours policy and approved Fall 2020 COVID-19 Departmental Work Plans through the cabinet officers.  The difference is that hours of work are to be remote, unless otherwise directed to be on campus as outlined in the department’s fall COVID-19 work plan. Holidays and Season Days will be provided as outlined in the Holiday schedule.  Employees must follow department protocols for requesting vacation days, sick days and other absences, which are governed by the SPG.

It is important that supervisors and employees communicate clearly on expectations of work responsibilities, flexibility of work scheduled (where possible, especially with children at home who are not able to return to in person learning) and overall work life balance. Additional tips are available to help navigate this unusual time.

Thank you for your ongoing efforts to ensure UM-Flint carries out its mission during the ongoing pandemic. The University is here for you.
