This message is only for students who are enrolled in an online degree program.

University Health Service has worked with BCN to open up the Domestic Student Health Insurance Plan (DSHIP) to UM students in online degree programs to provide coverage for the rest of this 2019/20 plan year and going forward. This coverage will be available for students enrolled in online degree programs offered by the Flint and Dearborn campuses as well as those offered at the Ann Arbor campus. It does not apply to learners enrolled only in MOOC courses, series, and teach-outs.

The insurer will re-open the special enrollment period for UM online degree students. The coverage will go back to March 23, 2020 and runs through August 23, 2020. The cost for this coverage period is $713. Students can begin enrolling tomorrow morning April 10th, 2020 and the final day to enroll in this special enrollment period will be April 14th at 11:59 p.m. To enroll, students can go to https://www.bcbsm.com/content/microsites/umich/en. Benefit details can be found under "Get Coverage Information."

Students with questions can email Laurie Burchett, the Administrative Manager for Managed Care/Student Insurance at UHS (lburchet@med.umich.edu).

Stay well,

Julie Ann Snyder, Ph.D.
