Dr. Julie Ann Snyder's favorite quote is, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." -Ghandi. Fun facts about Dr. Snyder, she is a first-generation American and first-generation college student. Her passion areas are politics, social justice, and education. Dr. Snyder came to the University of Michigan-Flint in the July of 2016 and serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students. Dr. Snyder earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, her master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Bowling Green State University. Her dissertation research focused on practices that can increase retention and graduation for low-income students. Dr. Snyder was born in Detroit, Michigan. In her spare time, Dr. Snyder enjoys reading, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
