href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/deanofstudents\/care-team\/\">CARE Team<\/a><\/li><li class=\"breadcrumb-item active\" aria-current=\"page\">How CARE Works<\/li><\/ol><\/nav>\n\n\n<p>Listed below are the steps involved in the CARE process and what you can expect as a reporter or student of concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-981dd00a93645baefdca9d25fdbfdb49\">Step 1: A CARE\u00a0report is submitted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The university may receive written or verbal reports\u00a0by any person who is\u00a0concerned about\u00a0a UM-Flint student. These reporters may be members of the CARE Team,\u00a0students concerned about themselves, parents, faculty and staff, the local community, or\u00a0other students.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upon submission of an online report, the reporter will receive a confirmation message that indicates the CARE Team received the concern.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f7798bcb1447ac1f1b1e49028f39d8e9\">Step 2: Preliminary review by CARE Team Chair or designee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CARE Team Chair and\/or designee will review\u00a0all reports upon submission.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During this review, the CARE Team Chair checks to see if the reported concern\u00a0warrants an immediate response. If an immediate response is warranted, the Chair will contact DPS and\/or call an emergency CARE Team meeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no immediate response is warranted, the Chair will forward the report to the CARE Team to be reviewed at the next CARE Team meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9d3e9100c5f42041d71870403ec4cc1b\">Step 3: Review of\u00a0CARE report by CARE Team<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>During\u00a0the CARE Team meeting, CARE Team members will review the information provided and gather additional information as needed to make a risk level assessment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b75c5e6869c2d513b53c87e7553f8154\">Step 4: Interventions\/support measures determined<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After reviewing\u00a0all available information and making an assessment, the CARE Team will develop a plan to provide support and resources to address the reported area of concern and\/or\u00a0to minimize the risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The CARE Team may decide the situation does not warrant any further measures or interventions, but may continue to monitor as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-57be0d54e8907868b640bb8661369727\">Step 5: Follow-up \/ Monitoring as needed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once a(n) intervention\/support plan has been developed, a member of the CARE Team will follow-up with the student of concern usually via phone or an in-person meeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During this follow-up, the CARE Team member will provide the student support resources, referrals, or targeted intervention tools to address the reported concern. In some cases, the student might be scheduled for additional follow-up meetings with a member of the CARE Team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The CARE Team may reach out to individuals who submitted the\u00a0report, where appropriate.
