My name is Amanda Wilson and I am a senior attending the University of Michigan-Flint School of Management. I will be graduating after this winter semester and will receive my Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting with a minor in Economics. Currently, I work in the Office of Financial Services and Budgets at the University of Michigan-Flint as a Central Accounting Intern. In August, I became a tutor within the school’s Student Success Center, helping students in accounting. I was also involved with Club Sports, holding a position as vice president for the Cheer Club for 2 years.
College has always been a goal of mine, and scholarships have made it an easier reality. They have not only relieved the financial pressure, but they have also allowed me to focus more on school due to not having to work as much. I have been fortunate enough to be the recipient of many scholarships including three different Freeman Scholarships, the Ryan and Ryan Scholarship, Connie Nelson Study Abroad Scholarship, SOM Study Abroad Scholarship, Yeo and Yeo Accounting Scholarship, and the Plante Moran Accounting Scholarship. Each of these has made a tremendous impact on me. The University of Michigan-Flint and all of their donors truly care for the students who attend. This past summer, I studied abroad and without the financial assistance that scholarships gave me, this would have never happened.
The involvement I have had with the University of Michigan-Flint has given me memories that I will have for a lifetime. I would love to have this extraordinary time of my life continue on to impact other people. I am a big supporter of paying it forward and as I volunteer I remember all of the people who have helped me out as well.
