Students live in apartment-style residence halls and enjoy the convenience of being just steps away from classes. Students also have access to campus resources, downtown businesses, cultural events, and food options. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/housing\/residential-theme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">residential learning and theme communities<\/a> provide opportunities for students to live and learn with peers who share the same interests. They offer students and parents information about campus residential life, including what to bring to campus, getting involved and dining options. Each building has a staff of resident advisors, upper-class students who focus on student transitions and community development. Each building is supervised by a full-time hall director who lives in the building. Getting involved, meeting peers, and spending time on campus is essential, and you can support your student by encouraging them to stay on campus after classes have ended. Encourage them to find a space that feels comfortable where they can study and relax. Encourage them to attend a <a href=\"https:\/\/events.umflint.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">campus event<\/a> or visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/rec\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Recreation Center<\/a>. A valid University of Michigan-Flint parking permit is required to park in any university lot or structure. Parking permits are provided to students at no cost as part of their semester registration. Students can pick up their parking permits during the first two weeks of the fall or winter semester in the University Pavilion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are planning to visit your students on a weekend, you can park your vehicle in any university lot or structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Visit the Library<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.umflint.edu\/library\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frances Willson Thompson Library<\/a> is a great place to study, get assistance with research and assignments, or simply relax in a quiet space and enjoy the beautiful view from the atrium. The library is home to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/writingcenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marian E. Wright Writing Center<\/a>. Many of these spaces include electrical sources for charging and media resources for group projects.
